Hey guys! Jen here!

First off, shout out to Influenster for sending these lipsticks to me so I could try them. I was able to try both the Nude Flush and Rebel Red and I really loved the color of both and the texture was very smooth and dried without making my lips feel dried out that some mattes tend to do.
When you first apply it the lipstick are both super creamy and shiny, and you can leave it that way if your wish. But if you “kiss a tissue” or blot your lips, instant matte!

Nude Flush is a very nice pinky nude as opposed to a real nude, nude color. It’s perfect for summer and really works with any look. It dries down very matte after blotting.  It really does have good staying power and doesn’t ball up or flake off like many mattes do. I wore it out and about and it lasted about 6 hours, which is including lunch at Chipotle, a drink from Starbucks, and dinner at In and Out. Very good to see it last.

Rebel Red is a gorgeous blue red while still being a subtle red, a total Taylor Swift red color honestly. The color doesn’t really set matte, even after blotting and letting it dry my lips still had a very shiny finish to them. However, it was a tad bit disappointing when it comes to staying power. The color was so pretty and it looked beautiful and sexy with my purple Smokey eye, but it does not finish matte at all and stays glossy/shiny. It also didn’t last hardly as long as the Nude Flush. I want to say it lasted about 2 maybe 3 hours max. Very disappointing because I loved this color so much!! Maybe if I put a matching liner underneath it might last longer but I’ll have to experiment with it.

Pros: Very pigmented and beautiful. The doe footed applicator helps with precise application. Both colors Nude Flush and Rebel Red are very complimenting. The creamy finish of Rebel Red is nice even if it does not finish quite as matte as Nude Flush. Very affordable. Around $8 for each color.

Cons: Rebel Road does not last long and does not provide the “Vivid Matte” look that is promised with these lipsticks. A little annoying that you have to blot first in order for them to dry matte. Most mattes dry matte automatically.

Final Thoughts:

Altogether I was equally impressed with both lipsticks, the Vivid Matte lipsticks do not disappoint in the payout aspect, and the promise of vivid matte is fulfilled by the nude flush, not so much the Rebel Red, but the color is still amazing, for me personally it is the first red lipstick I’ve found that works well with my skin tone. Most reds just do not look right on me, or at least I don’t like how they look. I just really wish that it had lasted longer.

It is important to note that I did not touch up either lipstick during the days I wore them in order to truly test the staying power.
Both lipsticks applied very smoothly and the applicator is a small doe foot which is perfect for precise application. The great thing about them applying so creamy is that if you happen to mess up and smudge your lip line a bit it is very easy to clean up any mistakes with a wet Q-tip or moist makeup wipe.

Again, I was sent the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Nude Flush and Rebel Red for FREE in exchange for my honest review, and that fact has that influenced my review or my opinion what so ever. I pride myself on giving my 100% honest and unbiased review on ALL products I review regardless if it was bought with my own money or not.

So that was my review, if you are interested I will post my referral code for Influenster so you can sign up to receive amazing products like this as well as well as my video review on YouTube channel. I’ll also include the Maybelline website so you can see the entire collection of colors.
Love you guys,

Influenster #VividMatte Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color Review

Friday, December 11, 2015

If there is anything about the Kardashians/Jenner family that I’m jealous about, it has to be Kylie Jenner's lips. That pout is so friggen sexy I want it; even if hers aren't naturally that pouty. However, unlike the millions of idiots who participated in the Kylie Jenner Cup contest challenge thingy I decided instead to find a more natural means to prefect this pout on myself. And honestly I think I found the perfect item for that look.

Introducing ColourPop’s Lippie Stix and Lippie Stix liner.
Colourpop.com

These colors are so beautiful, and if lined correctly your lips will pout the day away! I was first introduced to the brand when I bought their Ultra Matte Lipsticks, Here is the review for those from an older post of mine to remind you. Ultra Matte Lipstick Review

Now, I wanted a color that would be gentle but bold, pop but still have that subtle look to it that I could still wear it to work and not feel overly painted or ridiculous. So like I always do before I buy new makeup, I started browsing around on Insta and a few google image searching. Eventually I came across a color called Lumière. I instantly ran to youtube to watch a few reviews and found a video by Kathleen Lights, a makeup blogger/vlogger/Insta-star who had collaborated with Colourpop to create this color. Just in case anyone is interested I’m going to post the link to her Youtube page below. She has a lot of really good makeup reviews and tutorials and has also collaborated with a lot of other companies on products as well.

After watching her video and seeing how gorgeous the color looked on her I bought the lippie stix and the liner. After shopping a bit more I kind of reflex bought another color, Dalia. This one seemed to call to me, as if little makeup angels were guiding my mouse as I added it and the matching liner to my shopping cart and hit ‘Check out.’ Honestly a bit of a blind purchase, but I’m all for experimenting with makeup and trying different colors and such so I said ‘what the heck, why not?’.

So I sat and waited for it to arrive, I paid directly with my credit card instead of Paypal on this order and I felt like it went through and shipped faster than my previous order did. Within a week I had my new lippie stixs and the primer and I was ready to hit the world. Plus the little note that Colourpop included in my package melted this nerd’s heart. The quickest and easiest way to win me over is using Harry Potter in a compliment.

They include these in all their orders but I don’t think I got a picture of the one from my Ultra Mattes, but I’m sure it was just as sweet.

Review time!!!

Let me start off with a swatch of both colors with their liners (Primer on under the lipsticks) with and without flash:

Lumière Lippie Stix & Liner:

My first impression of Lumière was one of pure love. The matte dusty rose mauve color was so beautiful. When I tested it out on my skin (I always do a test with new makeup, never know what might break you out!) it had that bit of pop and boldness that I wanted while still looking neutral and elegant. Classy if you will.  I honestly wear this color every time we go out, it goes great with any style. Even if I’m just filling in my brows and only putting on concealer and no foundation this lippie stix still looks like I’m actually putting in the effort to look good.

Selfie time:

Real moment here: Serious shout out to those who can go out without makeup on. I literally cannot and feel like I’m under a microscope if I go out and about without some form of makeup on. I know that is really bad, and it is something I’m working on. Hey it is almost New Years. Maybe I’ll make that one of my New Year’s Resolutions for next year. Not be so over worried about what everyone thinks about me. Everyone is too busy looking at their phones to look at me anyways, right?

Back to Lumière, I really suggest this color if you are more a neutral lip color person and can’t handle a red or a pink, since it’s right there in the middle with the mauve/dusty rose tone.

Dalia Lippie Stix & Liner:

Dalia scared me. Not even going to lie, it scared the crap out of me. It’s like a matte coco red. I’m about 50 shades of pale over here with dark brown hair; this color really really really pops. Like Vavavoom pops. Don’t get me wrong, it is a beautiful color and the perfect shade of red because it doesn’t have any orange undertone at all. I’m just scared to hell of it and can’t bring myself to wear it out of the house yet.

I don’t know if it is just because the vividness of the color or what, but I just can’t. I try, I primer, line, and powder then apply and blot and reapply and blot and blot and then look in the mirror… and feel like a clown. I can’t get myself to walk out of the bathroom with it on. It’s sad but true. I’m going to a Mötley Crüe concert on the 30th of this month (Superexcitedicannotwait!!) so hopefully I can bring myself to wear it on for that. xD

Here are some swatches of Grunge and Brink. Sorry they are a little smeared. It was 2 am and I was sleepy. xDD

Grunge Lippie Stix & Liner:

So I know I promised to try to wear Dalia to the Motley Crue concert... But when I saw Grunge on the site and looked up pictures of others wearing it I honestly fell in love with it! It's a few shades lighter then Dalia and has more red then brown to it even though it is described as a "cool-toned plum brown". It doesn't wash me out like some red do, and seriously I felt so sexy wearing this shade. I felt like a total rocker chick at the concert with this shade. The color is a little deep for some, but if you feel like you could rock it I say go for it. For me, it's my favorite red, and I recently gifted Dalia to my Mother-In-Law. She's Latina, so it looks much prettier on her skin tone then mine.
I wore this shade also on New Years Eve and got So many compliments and introduced a few of the guests at the party to Colourpop as well.

Brink Lippie Stix and Lippie Liner:

Excuse the goofy picture but I seriously love this color! I feel so flirty and free with this color. It's a very nice soft pink/mauve and dusty. The description on the site fits it perfectly. "A warm dusty taupe in a matte finish."  inspired by Kylie Jenner Lips. Which as you all know, is like my Lipspiration, so I knew I HAD to have this lippie. And it does not disappoint. I wore it to my Grandparents 50th anniversary and even my Grammy complimented it saying how professional it looked while still being playful. Can't disagree with Grammy, she knows her stuff. :) All in all, I gotta say this color has become a staple, and I'm constantly torn between Lumiere and Brink daily.

Final Thoughts.

For me at least I have trouble with super creamy lipsticks, I tent to stay with Matte’s just because once they dry you basically forget about them. I dunno, with lipstick it almost feels like to me that my lips are slimy and it bugs the ever living out of me and I end up wiping the lipstick off within an hour. Not with these. They are creamy, but matte. The way they are formulated you honestly almost forget you put it on until you eat or drink something and see the residue. Even then, just like I said about the Ultra Matte’s, unless what you are eating is super greasy this lipstick is long lasting, I’m not going to lie and say you won’t feel the need to do a touch up because I touch up my lips after I eat and before getting out of the car.

Without the liner they are pretty but honestly do not last half as long, and the liner helps bring out the color and the natural pout in your lips because you can get into that natural curve under your lip to thicken it a bit. The actual shape of the tube helps too since it is slanted you can really fine line your lips with the actual Lippie Stix while applying and get into the arches on your cupids bow without smudging. They really created these in the perfect shape for application and understand how lips are shaped and work.

Only negative thing about these is related to the Lippie Stix Liners. They run low quick and I really wish that Colourpop sold a sharpener that fit the liners perfectly. All the sharpeners I have do their jobs and sharpen, but tend to rub away a lot of the liners since they are so smooth. So I lose a lot of what I sharpened in my sharper. Hunting for that perfect sharpener, so if you have any suggestions please leave a comment below about which one you use.

**Update** I found a sharpener the PERFECT size for the Lippie Stix Liner! It's E.L.F and I found it at the Dollar Tree. Comes in a two pack. A large two pencil sharpener and a small one pencil sharpener that is the one I use.

Lippie Stix & Lippie Stix Liner Review Lumière, Dalia, Grunge, Brink *Update 1/12/2016*

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

So I ordered a big bundle of makeup from E.l.f for my birthday. I love E.l.f's makeup so much, it's natural and not tested on animals which is always a plus for me. I'm not vegan or obsessed with vegan makeup, (More power to all the beauties out there who only use animal free makeup, love you guys!) but knowing that I'm putting makeup on my face that isn't used on poor defenseless animals makes me feel better about using it. I'm Still looking for an animal friendly mascara to replace my Benefit Their Real Mascara.
On to the review:

First up is the Perfect Finish HD Powder
Would recommend to even out skintone.

This stuff is weird... I've never used an HD powder before and so I wasn't sure how to use this, I had to look up, It's actually pretty easy to use. You just use your Kabuku brush and brush it lightly over your face to add a finishing touch to your makeup. I also use it to set my concealer before I apply foundation.
I was a little worried putting it on because, as you can see, it's super white. However, once you put it on the powder goes translucent instantly and helps fill in any imperfections like pockmarks/acne scars left showing after applying foundation.
I use it daily now, and I'm actually going to apply a crap-load of it to pale out my face more for my Morticia Addams makeup for Halloween.  (I'll try to post a video of that.)

Translucent Mattifying Powder
Would recommend for oily skin.

I have super oily skin, even using Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet + foundation I still get a good sheen of oil by midday. Thanks to this stuff I can easily matte my face and avoid that embarrassing shine. It comes with a nice little applicator sponge that promises a nice even application, and it doesn't smudge up my makeup when I put it on. I keep it in my purse at all times so I can quickly pull it out and use it.

Matte Lip Color
would not honestly recommend.

This was honestly so disappointing. It does not go on Matte at all, very creamy. When I think Matte I think dry. The color is more of a Cherry then a rich red. I was expecting fire engine red or blood red. Another negative about this lipstick is it doesn't last. I put it on and headed out of town to go set up our wedding venue. (Or at least try to, the venue pretty much asked what I needed done and set everything up for us, it was amazing. <3) We stopped and ate on the way there and by the time we checked into our hotel and finished unpacking it was all gone. So this is good only if you don't plan on eating at all or just want to use it for pictures, but even then it bleeds really badly.

Kabuku Face Brush
Super soft and blends amazingly.

Not much more I can say about this lol. It's a super soft brush, very thick and doesn't hold the product when you use it. I use it to blend my powder when I contour, It blends it in perfectly and i'm not left with any lines at all. Yet another E.l.f item going in my daily use box.

Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
Very nice point, but it smudges.

So, I loved the tip on this eyeliner, very firm and perfect for making straight lines. I'm addicted to winged eyeliner, I don't leave the house without putting it on. I tested it out and waited a minute then rubbed it... Wiped off a little too much for me. I think I'll stick with my Kat Von D Trooper.

Long-Lasting Lustrous Eye shadow.
So pretty and you can control the application.

This eye shadow is so pretty!! I love it. It's practically a cream but it doesn't feel like it when you apply it. I gently applied it on my arm to show you, it goes on very light so you can control the coverage/darkness of it. It has a nice shine to it and it does last a long time. I put that spot on in the morning and left for work, it was still there when I got home just as dark. Very Nice, I used this in Vegas this past week for an incredible smokey eye. I'll redo it and post it on my Insta @Chibi_Jen92.

32 Piece Eye Shadow Palette
Pretty shades and great application
Please ignore my eyebrow, it's not filled in. xD

Now this palette was free for my birthday on the 7th, and I kind of jumped on it and ordered all the rest of these items just to have an excuse to get it. I'm so happy I did though, that eye shadow was put on without primer, and it still looks super good! It goes on great and doesn't have much fallout. It does have a staying problem, but I mean if you rub your eyes the chances of not rubbing off some eye shadow. It applies very nicely even using the little applicator that it came with. I HATE the little eye shadow applicators that eye shadows typically come with, I feel like they don't apply well and end up smudging it everywhere other than where you want it due to the fact that the brush is super hard so there is no give when you apply it like you get with a nice fluffy brush. However, even using the little applicator it came with I felt like it did a pretty good job going where I wanted it to.
I actually used this palette for my makeup at my wedding on the 18th and got so many compliments asking me who did my makeup and what brand they used. Imagine their faces when I said I did it with E.l.f. xD

I hope you guys liked my thoughts on these items, if you have an item you'd like me to review I have my email posted  on my "Lets get Social" page. Any other questions or comments feel free to post below.
See you next time!
